Wigan star Sam Tomkins to miss England Test

Wigan full-back Sam Tomkins faces a one-match ban for leading with the knees in the Grand Final.

The 29-year-old was charged by the match review panel for Grade B striking with the knee against Warrington Wolves hooker Daryl Clark.

Tomkins has been selected in Wayne Bennett’s England squad for their autumn internationals against France and New Zealand.

And the Rugby Football League have confirmed that Tomkins can serve his ban by missing England’s match against France at Leigh Sports Village on Wednesday, even though Wigan and Warrington players were not going to be picked anyway.

Tomkins’ team-mate, Tommy Leuluai, has also been given a one-match penalty notice for a Grade B dangerous contact but he can serve his suspension by missing Wigan’s first pre-season friendly of 2019.
