Widnes have signed Warrington duo Steve Pickersgill and Kevin Penny on a month’s loan.

Prop Pickersgill and winger Penny have worked with Vikings’ former Wolves coach Paul Cullen before, and will go straight in to his squad for Saturday’s free-entry game against Gateshead.

Vikings’ Sporting Director Terry O’Connor has negotiated the deals with the Wolves and the players’ representatives and is delighted that the players will be joining the Vikings.

“There has been a lot of work going on behind the scenes over the last few weeks and I’m pleased that it has finally come to fruition.

“Steve is an impressive young man who will add size to our pack whilst Kevin had shown he has the pace to be a threat to all defences and was in the Super League dream team in 2007.”

Paul Cullen added: “I’ve worked with both Steve and Kevin at close hand and I’m sure they will be great additions to our squad.”

Pickersgill joined the Wolves from Crosfields ARLFC in 2002 and was an England Academy tourist to Australia and New Zealand in 2004.

Penny is contracted to the Wolves until 2011 and although his first love was basketball he has also represented England at Academy level.
