Whitehaven on target for top three

Whitehaven boss Carl Forster says his team face a big month as they look to keep up the pressure on the top two in League 1.

Forster’s side are currently third in the table, level on points with Barrow and just two behind leaders Toronto.

This weekend Whitehaven travel to face an Oxford team who have recently beaten Hunslet and South Wales and Foster will urge his players not to take them lightly.

“We have a big month coming up with matches against Oxford and Gloucestershire All Golds, two recent newcomers to league rugby, and then two fixtures against more familiar opponents York (away) and Doncaster (home),” Forster told the News and Star.

“That will almost take us to the end of the league programme ahead of the Eights and we are on target to finish in the top three.”

Whitehaven round off their regular season campaign with games against Keighley, North Wales and Barrow during July.
