Wests Tigers have signed outside-back Robert Jennings on a two-year deal from South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Jennings was granted a release from the Rabbitohs earlier this week and is expected to formally begin training with the Tigers next week.

The Tigers have reportedly been trying to sign Jennings for a few months, but the NRL’s salary cap investigation into the club and a potential $639,000 deduction in this year’s cap made it difficult.

But the Tonga international, who has scored 25 tries in 39 NRL appearances, will now spend the next two seasons with Wests.

On securing the services of Jennings, Tigers coach Michael Maguire said: “Robert is a quality young man who I’ve worked with before and seen develop into the talented rugby league player he is.

“He adds size, power and speed to our edges and is an excellent addition to our squad.

“Off the back of a strong season, I have no doubt he is going to fit extremely well into our systems and I look forward to watching him take the next steps in his career at this club.”
