Leeds Rhinos have confirmed that England Knights winger Kallum Watkins will be ruled out for up to 12 weeks with ligament damage to his wrist.

The youngster injured his wrist in the 48-6 win over Castleford at the Probiz Coliseum and will be out for up to three months.

Commenting on the injury Head Coach Brian McDermott said, “We are all disappointed for Kallum as he has been in great form this season. We will make sure that we get the injury sorted and look forward to having him back for the latter half of the season.”

McDermott also confirmed that Lee Smith is likely to be available for selection next week for the Carnegie Challenge Cup clash against Crusaders at Headingley Carnegie next Saturday.

The Rhinos have also confirmed that their team coach was attacked as it left the ground following the win at Castleford. Chief Executive Gary Hetherington commented, “Having spoken to the players, they say one young boy threw a stone at the window as the team left the ground which cracked the windscreen. We will be co-operating fully with Castleford and the RFL regarding further enquires but thankfully no one was injured either on the bus or passers by.”
