Warrington confirm South Sydney clash

Warrington have confirmed that they will travel to Australia for pre-season training and will play the South Sydney Rabbitohs as preperation for the 2012 season.

The Wolves will face the Rabbitohs on Saturday 4th February 2012 at the BCU International Stadium in Coffs Harbour.

Commenting on the announcement, Warrington Chief Executive Andy Gatcliffe stated:

“A pre-season tour of Australia will be extremely beneficial for both the coaches and players alike and this can only have strong positive benefits for Warrington Wolves‘ relationship with both South Sydney Rabbitohs and the wider NRL.

“From a club point of view, warm weather training together with trial games in Australia will certainly take the club to a new development level.

Warrington head coach Tony Smith added “Obviously we look forward to the warm weather training but further to that some of the cultural discoveries too in terms of training methods and training techniques within not only Rugby League but we hope to also look at other sports and the ways they prepare.

“We are always looking for ways to improve the culture within our club and sport so this is a great opportunity and we are very grateful to South Sydney and also Simon Moran for making this a reality
