Warrington chase Daryl Clark

Warrington are in the hunt to sign Castleford hooker Daryl Clark, according to former Tigers coach Ian Millward.

Clark, 20, has been one of the bright lights in a difficult 18 months for the club, which has seen them flounder near the bottom of the Super League table, as well as endure financial troubles off the pitch.

They could now be forced to sell two of their best players, with Rangi Chase set to make a move to NRL side St George Illawarra, and Clark on the radar of the Challenge Cup holders.

Millward was speaking as a guest on the BBC’s Super League show, and he also revealed the difficulties gripping the club as it continues to wait for a possible new stadium.

He said: “A lot of things have been put on hold at Cas because they want a new stadium but is there going to be a new stadium?

“And during all those five years waiting for it, have they lost track on all the other clubs?”

Clark, who made his debut in 2011, is approaching his 50th appearance for the club.

He starred off the bench in Saturday’s 28-26 win over Widnes, which ended a run of nine games without a win.
