Warren to continue NRL commentating

Legendary Australian commentator Ray ‘Rabbits’ Warren will continue to commentate on the NRL in 2017.

The commentator had been rumoured to be on the verge of retiring, but he will be delighting viewers on Nine again this year.

“I said I didn’t know if I’d retire and that I take it year by year,’’ Warren told wwos.com.au.

“I also said I’ll see how I’m feeling and I’ll make a decision later on.

“That was my answer and then some people wrote the headline, ‘Warren to retire’.

“That was ridiculous. Of course you’re going to retire one day. You’re going to retire the day that you’re born. And it’s not hard for a bloke to think about retirement when he’s 73.”

Warren has discussed the subject of retirement with fellow commentator Phil Gould, whose answer has always been unequivocal.

“Gus just looks at me and says, ‘No, no, no, no, no’,” Warren said.
