Wigan coach Shaun Wane expects Widnes’ season to come together soon, as he prepares to take his side to the Stobart Stadium on Sunday.

The Vikings have endured a tough start to life back in Super League, losing all five of their games so far, shipping 216 points in the process.

Wane’s Warriors, who have lost just once so far this season, are the next team to try out the new iPitch.

He told the club’s official website: “I know alot of those players at Widnes and they can play much better than they are doing, Denis Betts is a good Coach and when anyone plays Wigan they always raise their game which is a compliment to us. He will have them fired up, he will not want us to go and roll through them.

“We will be up against it and we will need to be fully concentrated at our best, we don’t want to get caught cold , I want us to defend well and I think this will be a really tough game.

“I don’t think their recent performances have been very Widnes like, they will click one game soon and I just want to make sure it is not against us.

“Widnes is a real Rugby League town and I have always loved going there as a player, it will be a great crowd with a great atmosphere and I am looking forward to it, I think it will be a great game of Rugby League.”

Widnes have one just one of their last 17 Super League games, a 36-20 win over Leigh in September 2005. The Vikings haven’t won a game since a Championship win over Batley in July 2011.
