Wane desperate to beat St Helens

Wigan coach Shaun Wane is understandably keen to beat St Helens at Langtree Park on Friday evening, and claim local bragging rights.

But as well as bragging rights, two vital Super League points are at stake, which could make a massive difference to whether the Warriors end up with a home or away semi-final tie.

“It’s really important to both teams and obviously a Wigan against Saints derby is a friendly game is important one, but the way it has panned out it is even more important,” Wane told BBC Radio Manchester.

“We owe them one as they beat us really well at Langtree Park a few months ago, so we need to go there with a much improved performance.

“There is a healthy rivalry there – I have a lot of respect for them and they respect us, but it is a game I’m desperate to win.”
