Wane admits Wigan beaten by better side

Wigan coach Shaun Wane says the Warriors have no excuses and were simply beaten by a better team in the Brisbane Broncos last night.

The Broncos posted a comfortable 42-12 victory in the World Club Series at the DW Stadium.

“We got beaten by a better team,” Wane admitted.

“They burned us – they had too many big athletes – and we couldn’t handle it.

“As daft as it sounds, that’ll be the best thing that happened to us, we need to use that as a springboard and learn from it.”

“They outplayed us. We need to dust ourselves down and respond.”

Wane declined to use the gap in the salary caps in the NRL and Super League as an excuse for the defeat.

“I don’t wont to use that as an excuse,” he said.

“We were just beaten up by a really good team. I need to improve my team.”
