Wakefield release prop Stosic

Wakefield have released prop James Stosic after he failed to obtain a Macedonian passport.

The New zealand born forward, who joined the club at the start of 2009 from Gold Coast Titans, was half-way through a two-year deal, but the second year hinged on him getting a passport which would see him exempt from next season’s overseas quota.

With coach John Kear already having signed up Ben Jeffries, Daryl Millard, Glenn Morrison, Sam Obst and Shane Tronc on his overseas quota for next season, there was no room for Stosic after his failure to secure the Macedonian passport he qualified for through his father.

Kear said: “We’d like to thank James for his hard work on behalf of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and wish him well for the remainder of his career.”
