Ireland international Tyrone McCarthy has provided an update on his future, confirming that he has left Salford.

The 31-year-old’s contract with the Red Devils expired at the end of last season, meaning that he is now a free agent and on the lookout for a new club.

McCarthy is hoping to represent Ireland at the World Cup later this year, having earned 19 caps for the Wolfhounds to date.

McCarthy tweeted: “As most people are aware my time at Salford has come to an end.

“What a journey we have had with some incredible highs.

“Thanks to the fans for your loyal support, it’s been an honour to represent you and the club.

“Excited for the challenges that lie ahead.”

McCarthy has made more than 250 career appearances since making his first team debut for Warrington back in 2009.
