Turner set for Giants return

Huddersfield centre Jordan Turner is to make his return from injury for their Super 8s opener against Wakefield on Friday.

Turner, 28, joined the Giants mid-season from Canberra Raiders and made two appearances back in June, in the comprehensive wins over Warrington and Catalans, scoring one try.

Coach Rick Stone told the club’s official website: “Jordan could have possibly played this week if we’d had a game so he’s available, which is very pleasing.

“We’re in much better shape than we were earlier in the year. With players coming back it adds strike and depth to our squad.

“Michael Lawrence is a bit of a 50/50. He’s ripping into his training and chasing his tail to try and be ready.

“We’ll make some decisions around him during the week when we assess who else is available. He is back in training and hopefully he will be ready.”

Stone is also hoping to have Alex Mellor back from a shoulder injury, though one player who won’t be appearing is winger Aaron Murphy following a toe operation.
