Toovey: We can match Hull KR

Bradford boss Geoff Toovey says he’s looking forward to tackling Championship table-toppers Hull KR on Sunday.

Despite their lowly league position the Bulls ran Rovers close at the Summer Bash and Toovey insists his team can get a positive result this weekend.

“No doubt they’ll be wanting to show their dominance early on in the game with the forwards, their main strength,” he told the club’s official website.

“We need to match them there if we want to have a chance of beating them.

“We’re at the bottom of the comp and they are at the top, so it’s a bit of a mismatch. But saying that, last time we faced them at Blackpool our forwards stood up particularly well and did a fantastic job against their pack.

“We’ve gained some confidence out of that and hopefully we will be able to display the same commitment to defence as we did that time.

“Things need to go our way on the weekend for us to win and we are confident that we can make a win happen. You need that confidence to make that happen, you need confidence in this comp.

“I think we are in there with a chance – we will be the underdogs there is no denying that, but what a great way I think to prove yourself.

“The point of being the underdog is to beat those guys above you.”
