Tony Gigot set for Toulouse debut

Lance Todd Trophy winner Tony Gigot could make his debut for Toulouse this weekend after being named in their 21-man squad for the game with Swinton.

Gigot, 30, joined Toulouse from French Elite side Avignon earlier this month, having had his contract with Wakefield cancelled by mutual consent back in January.

Man of the Match in Catalans’ historic Challenge Cup final win in 2018, Gigot left the Dragons at the end of 2019 and had a brief spell as an unpaid triallist with Toronto Wolfpack during their short Super League stint pre-COVID.

He has played in Toulouse colours before, scoring five tries in nine appearances during a spell with the then Toulouse Broncos in the Elite Championship.

Toulouse travel to the UK for a ‘home’ game against Swinton on Saturday, which will be played at Heywood Road.

They are without back-rower Andrew Dixon, who suffered a hamstring injury in the win over Whitehaven last week, while young Catalans duo Jordan Flovie and Hugo Salabio return to their parent club.

Bastien Ader is set to make his first appearance of the season, and Hugo Pezet also joins him in the squad.

Toulouse 21-man squad: Kheirallah, Hitchcox, Vaivai, Jussaume, Ford, Casty, White, Hansen, Peyroux, Marion, Pelissier, Bretherton, Paulo, Garbutt, Ader, Bergal, Schaumkel, Sangare, Gigot, Garcia, Pezet.
