Tony Gigot has returned to France to play with Avignon in the French Elite One Championship.

The 30-year-old Avignon-born full-back has made more than 200 career appearances for Catalans, Toulouse, Avignon, London Broncos, Toronto and Wakefield. He has earned 15 caps for France.

Gigot became the first Frenchman to win the Lance Todd Trophy in 2018 as he helped Catalans win the Challenge Cup at Wembley.

Gigot said: “I am happy to return to the club where I started; like many, the 2020 season has been complicated.

“Today I need to find pleasure in playing, and to get back on my feet, hoping to reach the highest level as soon as possible.”

Avignon coach Renaud Guigue said: “I am happy that he is coming back to the club and bringing his very high level experience to the squad.

“He is a player who has enormous talent. We will do everything to ensure that he has fun with us again and that he finds the desire to perform.

“He started training with us and we can see that this pushes the group forwards.”
