Conor Condron could make his return from a broken cheekbone when Gateshead Thunder host Oldham on Sunday.

Gateshead coach Chris Hood also revealed: “We’re currently speaking to a Super League club about the possibility of bringing in a couple of dual-registration players. If we can agree the deals, that would give us another boost ahead of the weekend.”

Hood added: “We’ve tried to put belief into our squad’s ability and what they can do as a cohesive unit.

“The players gave us their all against Doncaster, and we’re incredibly proud of what they’ve done so far. The next step for us is to have a good month and have a good finish to the end of the season.”

On Oldham, Hood said: “They’ve had a few ups and downs but we know it’s going to be a very tough match on Sunday. We just want to make sure we take another step forward.”

Roughyeds coach Tony Benson is sweating on the fitness of several players before naming his squad to travel to the north east.

Danny Whitmore (head), Luke Sutton (knee), Neil Roden (knee) will all be assessed, while John Gillam and Matthew Fogarty could return to action.
