Three Championship players suspended

Three players have been suspended by an independent disciplinary tribunal after being found guilty of offences committed during Championship Round 14 fixtures played at Summer Bash on Sunday May 24.

Paul Wood of Featherstone Rovers has been suspended for a total of six matches and fined £100 for two incidents involving Leigh Centurions player Bob Beswick.

The tribunal found Wood to have made deliberate and unecessary contact with the opponent’s eye and was handed a five match ban after being found guilty of Grade E gouging.

Wood was suspended for a further one match after being found guilty of a Grade B headbutt.

Reni Maitua of Featherstone was banned for one match for making a Grade B careless high tackle on Jacob Emmitt. Maitua, who pleaded not guilty, was also fined £100.

Leigh player Gareth Hock was banned for one match for Grade A striking Featherstone Rovers player Jordan Baldwinson in the 23rd minute. Hock was also fined £100.
