Thompson feels like Hull are back at square one

Hull FC back Jordan Thompson knows that the Airlie Birds have work to do to get their season back on track.

The Black and Whites lost 32-28 at Salford on Saturday night, an outcome which left Thompson feeling frustrated.

“It was a disappointing night all round but made all the more frustrating when you look at how we have started the year,” he said, according to his club’s official website.

“Going into the break after Warrington we were still on a high, because we had put in a great performance against a top side.

“So to produce the display we did, it felt as if we had really let ourselves down and all the boys know that, we have to get back to where we were two weeks ago before we play Leeds.

“We were expecting the physical challenge from Salford, and they really came at us with their baseball bats for whatever reason we didn’t front up to it and they scored the two early tries in something like four minutes.

“We have to jump back on horse as soon as possible.

“The mood can soon swing back round, we had only conceded the one try all year and then to be just one win from three feels like we are back at square one.

“So it’s important now how we quickly we respond, it’s a big year ahead and it is still only early days so we have to back where we were mentally two weeks ago.”
