Tate re-signs with Cowboys

Brent Tate has re-signed with North Queensland for another year, fuelling speculation that Matt Bowen could be on his way out of the club.

Tate, 31, has played 42 times for the Cowboys since joining the club in 2010 and joins Johnathan Thurston, James Tamou, Kane Linnett and Michael Morgan in re-signing for North Queensland.

He said: “I am still really enjoying it. That’s the main thing for me personally. When that enjoyment stops, I know it will be time to hang up the boots.

“You are a long time retired and I am not quite ready to let go of that yet.”

Veteran Bowen is not among those to re-sign, though, as he continues his recovery from a shoulder injury.

The Cowboys are in a holding pattern as they monitor the full-back on a modified training program before deciding whether to offer him a contract for a 14th season.
