Tansey takes the positives from cup defeat

Castleford full back Jordan Tansey says the Tigers can take plenty of positives out of Friday’s Challenge Cup defeat to Leeds.

They went down 28-12 against the Rhinos, who have not lost a regular round Challenge Cup match for four years, in Danny Orr‘s second game in temporary charge.

Tansey told the club’s official website: “It was a disappointing result but we were in the game most of the way until the last 20 minutes.

“They got a few late tries but it was a lot closer than the scoreline suggests.

“Our kicking game wasn’t as good – we needed a good kicking game to compete and turn them round, but we struggled with that a little bit. But there are a lot of other positives to take out of the game.

“Before the game we knew that we could turn them over – we beat them at home earlier in the season – so we knew that we had a chance.

“We know that we are a good team and that we can compete with the very good teams.

“We’re out of the Challenge Cup now so we have one thing to concentrate on that’s climbing the Super League ladder. We’ll look to pick up some more wins now.”

Castleford travel to face Salford this weekend in Brian Noble’s first game in charge of the Reds.
