Super League Preview: Salford v Hull (Sat)

James Gordon

Former Salford captain Daniel Holdsworth will not play for Hull against his old club this weekend.

Holdsworth, 28, is still suffering from repeated effects of concussion, and is just one of a host of players Peter Gentle continues to be without.

First choice back-row trio Ben Galea, Danny Tickle and Gareth Ellis are all out injured, while Brett Seymour is still on leave from the club.

Salford recall centre Martin Gleeson following a calf injury and prop Jake Emmitt is set to make his Reds bow, having joined the club in a swap deal involving Ryan Boyle earlier this month.

Hull have gained at least a point from every one of their games that hasn’t featured on television this season.

Salford 19-man squad: Broughton, Gleeson, D Williams, Foran, Ashurst, Dixon, Wild, Godwin, Gibson, James, Neal, Fages, Sneyd, Owen, Evalds, Griffin, Ford, A Walne, Emmitt.

Hull 19-man squad: Arundel, Briscoe, Bowden, Crooks, Crookes, Green, Hadley, Heremaia, Horne, Houghton, Lineham, Lynch, McDonnell, O’Meley, Pitts, Shaul, Watts, Westerman, Whiting.

Prediction: Hull have started to pick up in recent weeks, and they’ll continue this here – away win.
