St Helens forward Matty Lees handed suspension after pleading guilty

St Helens forward Matty Lees has been banned for two matches following today’s independent tribunal. 

Lees, 25, pled guilty to a Grade D charge of a reckless, off the ball strike on a Salford’s Shane Wright during the first half of Saturday’s televised Super League fixture at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Paul Wellens’ side fought back from 12-0 behind to claim a 26-12 home victory on a milestone day for hometown hero James Roby.

The prop will now miss the upcoming Challenge Cup tie with Halifax, as well as the Round 13 clash with Leeds on Friday, May 26 at Headingley Stadium.

Elliot Minchella (Hull KR) – Dangerous contact – Grade A – N/A

Nathan Peats (Huddersfield Giants) – Dangerous contact – Grade B – 1 match

Kevin Proctor (Wakefield Trinity) – Dangerous contact – Grade A – £250 fine
