SL Preview: Salford v Huddersfield

Correspondent

Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson has been stoking the fires ahead of this game, and there has been much talk of debts being paid off.

We can probably expect a fiery encounter, with the controversial legacy of the Rangi Chase ‘tackle’ on Brett Ferres when the two teams last met still hanging around.

The Red Devils won that game at the John Smith’s Stadium 18-12.

Salford have lost their last four games in all competitions, but will be boosted by the return of Adrian Morley, Wayne Godwin and Liam Hood from injury.

Weller Hauraki also returns from suspension.

Oliver Roberts is included in a Giants squad for the first time.

Prediction: Huddersfield will be too strong for Salford, winning by at least 12 points.

Salford (19-man squad): Caton-Brown, Evalds, Fages, Gildart, Godwin, D Griffin, G Griffin, Hansen, Hauraki, Hood, Johnson, Jones-Bishop, Locke, Morley, Tasi, Taylor, J Walne, A Walne, Walton.

Huddersfield (19-man squad): Brough, Broughton, Connor, Crabtree, Cudjoe, Ellis, Grix, Huby, Hughes, Kopczak, Lawrence, Leeming, McGillvray, Mullally, Murphy, Roberts, Ta’ai, Wardle, Wood.

Stats:

Danny Brough needs two tries to reach a career century of touchdowns. His total of 98 has been scored as follows: 4 for Dewsbury (2002-2003), 20 for York (2003-2004), 3 for Hull FC (2005-2006), 12 for Castleford (2006-2007), 19 for Wakefield (2008-2010), 36 for Huddersfield (2010-2015) and 4 for Scotland (2004-2008, 2010 & 2013-2014).

Jermaine McGillvary has scored a try in each of Huddersfield’s last three matches.
