Sio relishing Smith’s professionalism at Wakefield

Wakefield hooker Michael Sio believes that Brian Smith’s experience and coaching ability is making a real difference to Wakefield.

Trinity beat Bradford Bulls 48-18 in the Qualifiers on Saturday, and the improved display can be put down to Smith’s influence, according to Sio.

“I’m setting in alright and enjoying my time here,” he told Trinity’s official audioboom channel.

“Brian’s come in and brought a lot of professionalism into the club, and I think that’s paying off.

“Brian brings toughness and he knows what he wants from his players, and he gets it. He’s bringing the best out of all of us.”

Sio also paid tribute to Trinity’s middle unit forwards, who he felt had helped make his job at dummy half significantly easier.

“[The] big guys getting the go forward and the quick play-the-balls made my job a lot easier getting around the ruck,” he added.

“It also gave the boys on the edge a lot of ball and a lot of space to move.”
