Sculthorpe to leave Saints

Paul Sculthorpe will leave Super League leaders St Helens at the end of the season, the club have announced. nnThe 30-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season, with the club not willing to extend his stay after a miserable run of injuries have thwarted his career. nnIt is thought the two-time Man of Steel may join Salford next season, reuniting him with Shaun McRae. nnMcRae signed the teenage Sculthorpe for Saints from Warrington as a teenager in 1997. nnA spokesperson for the Reds confirmed they had been approached by Sculthorpe’s agent, but no deal has yet been signed. nnAnother possible location for Sculthorpe, who is currently in his testimonial year, is Wakefield, where his brother Danny plays. nnSculthorpe was appointed Saints captain in 2004 and led them to Challenge Cup victories in 2004 and 2006.
