Scorpions capture Clough

Caerphilly-bound South Wales Scorpions have signed experienced back-row forward Chris Clough from Rochdale Hornets.

He attended the Scorpions’ match at his home town Keighley on Sunday and will hope to make his debut in the match against former Super League outfit Oldham at Virginia Park in Caerphilly on Sunday 15th May (kick-off 3pm).

The 24-year old has also played for York City Knights, Huddersfield Giants Reserves, Wakefield Reserves as well as French club Carpentras.

He is the third Rochdale player to have signed for the Scorpions this season following the recent acquisitions of Semisi Cocker and Paul Raftery.

Director of Rugby Mark Rowley said that further recruitment has been necessary to underpin the good development work going on in South Wales.

“The South Wales area has been outstanding for producing some excellent up and coming rugby league players recently,” he said. “But we have had a few gaps in our squad where it has been necessary to recruit players from outside the area.

“We are delighted that Chris has agreed to join us. He originated in a Super League Academy environment and has had an experienced career, not just in our division but in the South of France. He will be a big asset to our squad.”
