South Wales Scorpions have confirmed the signing of three players from the Widnes area, with all three signing season-long deals.

Half-back or loose forward Ryan Millington joins the club from North West Counties Premier Division side Widnes West Bank Bears. The 28-year-old was named as North West Counties Man of Steel last season.

Utility back Jonny Leather has also joined Scorpions, following a period in the community game with Widnes St Maries.

Primarily a full-back, Leather, 25, has played for Blackpool Panthers, and won Championship 1 Young Player of the Year in 2009 during his time there.

He has also spent some time with Widnes RUFC.

Australian-born utility forward Micah Manuokafoa has also played for Widnes RUFC, and is the son of current Widnes player Manase Manuokafoa.

The 17-year-old is eligible for Australia, Tonga, Fiji and Samoa internationally, and weighs 126 kilos. He has also played rugby union, having spent a period with Sale Sharks U-18s.

2Ryan and Jonny will give us some much needed experience as they’ve both had a few seasons at League 1 level,” said Scorpions coach Mike Grady.

“Micah is young but he’s strong and has been brought up in rugby league. He’s been looking for this chance and I know he won’t waste it.

“All three are looking forward to hopefully playing at Cardiff Arms Park against North Wales Crusaders in the Big Welsh Derby on Sunday 10th May but they’ll be wanting to help us to a win or two before that.”
