Salford have confirmed the permanent signing of Ed Chamberlain on a two-year deal from 2019.

The Ireland international has played four games for the Red Devils since joining on loan from Widnes Vikings and has impressed during his time on loan.

Chamberlain is happy to have secured his future beyond this season.

He said: “I’m enjoying my rugby here and I’m looking forward to continuing playing at Salford.

“I’ve played at full-back in the past few games, but I can also move into the centres and onto the wing so hopefully this allows me the opportunity to get plenty of game time.

“I’ve settled in well with the rest of the team and Ian Watson and his coaching staff have been great with me.

“I’m really excited to see where we can go as a team.”

Salford coach Ian Watson is delighted that Salford have been able to tie the 22-year-old down for the next two years.

He said: “Ed’s been outstanding since he came to the Club, he’s really impressed myself and the fellow coaching staff as well as the rest of the lads.

“He’s a versatile back who has filled in at full-back this season but can also play in the centres and on the wing, which makes him a rare commodity in the modern game.

“Ed has displayed how dangerous he can be going forward as well as his organisational skills in defence and we’re confident he’ll continue to develop in the coming seasons.”
