Salford scrap Under-19s

Salford have scrapped their Under-19s team as they move to close their academy.

It is believed the Red Devils are shutting down their Under-19s as part of a cost-cutting move. The players were informed of this development yesterday.

Salford owner Marwan Koukash has been approached for comment.

While the club looks to trim back its youth operations, it’s understood Koukash will be throwing his resources behind a tilt at the Super League title next season.

The Red Devils are currently 13/8 to finish in the top eight and that could be good value.
