Saints sign O’Brien on loan

Warrington half back Gareth O’Brien has joined St Helens on a month’s loan.

O’Brien, 21, has been unable to maintain a first-team place at the Halliwell Jones Stadium this season, and is behind Lee Briers, Richie Myler and Stefan Ratchford in the Wolves’ half back pecking order.

The former England Academy international has completed a similar loan spell with Castleford this season while the majority of his time has been spent with Swinton Lions on dual-registration.

O’Brien joins a Saints squad depleted by injuries and will begin training with Nathan Jones’ side immediately.
