Halifax utility Shad Royston has committed himself to the club for next season.

The Australian, 26, joined the club in 2006 from Doncaster, and his versatility has seen him feature in the back row, at full back and in the centres for Matt Calland’s side.

He celebrated his new contract with a try in Thursday’s 36-30 win over Featherstone which sent Halifax through to the Championship Grand Final.

Chief Executive Graham Clay said: “This is a huge boost for us, Shad is one of those players that any Club with ambition needs to have on its playing staff.”

Royston will be returning to Australia following the Grand Final for his wedding, but will return for 2010 ahead of the club’s Super League push.

He said: “I’m really pleased that my future is resolved. I have enjoyed playing at Fax more than anywhere else I’ve been. There’s a great bunch of lads here and I’m certain that we will be going even further next season.”

Halifax face Barrow in the Grand Final on October 4 at Warrington’s Halliwell Jones Stadium.
