Luke Robinson of the Salford City Reds is the winner of August's engage Super League Player of the Month award, with Wakefield head coach John Kear picking up the Coach of the Month award.

Robinson, who was recently named in Paul Cullen's England training squad, has produced some scintillating performances which has seen the Salford City Reds close to securing their first ever appearance in the engage Super League Play Offs. For Robinson, the month has seen a Man of the Match performance against Harlequins RL, which included a try, and an additional try and victory over play off candidates Warrington Wolves by one point. The Reds could have made it five points out of six in August had it not been for a last minute Richard Horne drop goal at the KC Stadium.

Robinson however is upbeat about the remainder of the season, "It's been a strange year, but we are now at the business end of the season and we have given ourselves the chance to perform for the first time in the engage Super League Play Offs. It will be a new experience for everyone at Salford, but one we are looking forward to immensely. The award caps off a good month for me and I just hope myself and the club can do ourselves justice in the following weeks."

Kear took over at Belle Vue at the beginning of August before the Wildcats engage Super League clash against local rivals Castleford Tigers. Kear's impact was immediate, with a resounding 18-0 victory, and this was then followed up by a further victory against Les Catalans. The final game of the month saw the Wildcats up against third placed Leeds Rhinos and nearly snatched a historic last minute win, before going down 14-12.

Kear, on receiving the award, said: "The last month has been a huge test for the players. We got off to the best possible start with a great win over Castleford. That win was backed up with an impressive performance against Les Catalans and although we tasted defeat against the Rhinos, the performance was certainly one to be proud of. It is always nice to be recognised for such an award, and I have to thank my players and support staff for producing the performances on the field during the month; I couldn't have asked more of them."
