Robins swoop for Tandy

Front rower Ryan Tandy joins the Robins from Doncaster Lakers today ready for the challenge that lies ahead within the engage Super League competition.

Tandy, who has signed until the end of this season with Hull Kingston Rovers, is ready to bring his strengths to the field and feels he has been given a great opportunity to consolidate the Robins’ place in the top flight. He commented: “I’m really keen to have a shot at Super League, I love rugby league and enjoy my footy, it’s exciting times and I am looking forward to getting to know the boys and show them what I am capable of.”

With his father being born in Birmingham and his grand-parents originating from Ireland he is an off-quota player and having previously played in Australia for St George Illawarra, and North South Sydney Bears he has a wealth of rugby league experience.

Tandy came to the UK in 2004 having played in National League 1 for Widnes Vikings for last season, and Whitehaven for 2 years, the 25year old has a great knowledge of rugby league that will only benefit the team and feels he is definitely ready for the challenge.

Hull Kingston Rovers Head Coach Justin Morgan said: “Ryan is a welcomed addition to the team and is a very good player who possesses the ability to cause havoc on the field. I’m very happy that we have signed him and I’m sure he’ll do well.”
