Canterbury stand-off Ben Roberts has completed a deal to sign for Parramatta Eels on a two-year deal from 2012.

Roberts, 25, has played internationally for both New Zealand and Samoa, and joins fellow new recruit Chris Sandow, recently signed from South Sydney Rabbitohs, in the Eels line-up for next season.

Eels coach Stephen Kearney said: “Ben’s played at international level and while he’s had a hard run with injuries recently, we know his potential.

“We’re looking forward to having him with us next year and being a part of what we’re building here.”

Roberts, who is a cousin of Everton football midfielder Tim Cahill, played in the 2008 World Cup for Samoa, and has so far spent his whole professional club career at the Bulldogs.

He said: “I’m happy to have my future sorted and I’m looking forward to the next chapter of my career.

“I’m really excited to be playing under Steve next year and want to thank the Bulldogs for everything they’ve done for me for the past six years.”
