Ridyard out for season

Huddersfield’s on-loan half-back Martin Ridyard has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Ridyard, 31, has had an operation on a shoulder injury.

Coach Rick Stone said: “He won’t be back this year which is disappointing. He’s been a really good foil for Broughy and helped when others have been out injured.

“Since the Magic Weekend we’ve been on an upward spiral. He’s been around the traps a bit and brings a good kicking game.

“Blokes want to play for him. For us, when we decided to take him on for the rest of the year was because he deserved that. It’s a pity that he won’t be playing for the rest of the season.”

Ridyard has been with the Giants on loan from Leigh since May and has made seven appearances, the most recent in the 14-10 defeat to Hull in July.

Having helped the Centurions to promotion to Super League last season, he made five appearances for them this term.
