Long-serving full-back Rhys Hanbury will leave Widnes at the end of the season.

Hanbury, 33, joined the Vikings from Crusaders on their return to Super League in 2012 and holds their record for both points and appearances in the competition.

Vikings chief executive, James Rule, said: “Rhys has created many special moments during his time at Widnes Vikings and can be proud of his contribution to the club. He leaves with the best wishes of everyone at The Vikings for the future.”

The former Wests Tigers back arrived in the UK in 2010, scoring 17 tries in 30 appearances for Crusaders.

After their controversial demise, he moved to Widnes, where he has scored 569 points in 174 games, including 87 tries.
