Hull FC coach Lee Radford was delighted with his team’s performance, after they kicked off their Super League campaign with a fine 19-0 win at Huddersfield.

Radford was particularly pleased with the team ethic his group showed, and their commitment to the task.

“For me probably the most pleasing part of the result was the team performance from all 17 players,” he told his club’s official website.

“We knew we had to be gritty in what we did and prepare to kick the ball early and play rugby chess to a point.

“We never let them play their game, we stuck in there for the full 80 minutes because contact wise it was a very physical match. We had to be at our best because they are a top outfit.

“I’m pleased we have got out the blocks quickly with regards to Super League and without being spectacular we were on the money and got a very good result.

“I thought Marc Sneyd played real tidy all game and the spine of our team did a great job.

Danny Houghton was massive for us, I know James Roby was spectacular on Friday but Danny is equally as important for us which just shows what high regard we hold him in.

“There were a number of players that were obviously disappointed to be left out today, including the likes of Feka Paleaaesina and Jordan Rankin who have been fantastic throughout pre-season and will certainly have a part to play this year.

“It was win by the entire squad.”
