Purdham excited by return

Harlequins loose forward Rob Purdham admits he cannot wait to make his Super League return against Crusaders.

In 2009, only weeks after recovering from a rare blood clot which saw him miss a large chunk of the season, Purdham picked up a shoulder injury which has ruled him out since last September. Following reconstructive surgery and a successful recovery, the 29-year-old is now eager to get back on the field.

“I’m really looking forward to playing again. Although I’ve only missed eight rounds of this season, it feels like a very long time since my last Super League game.”

Purdham, who won wide acclaim for his England performances at the 2008 Rugby League World Cup, added;

“Although I have been out of the side for a long time, I’m sure I can fit straight back in and bring something to the team. The other guys know how I play, so it will be a case of doing what I do and enhancing what we’ve got.

“There are still quite a lot of injuries in our squad which, coupled with some players retiring, has had a big effect on where we are now. But we are getting better and I’m looking forward to bringing what I’ve got to the table.”
