Luke Sutton (knee) is definitely absent for Oldham, while Matty Ashe (calf and shoulder) will undergo a late fitness test.

Oldham coach Tony Benson said: “Last week we produced a good performance against Gateshead. It was quite clinical and I was very happy.

“After the last break I was worried that we’d lose a bit when we came back. We’d got on a roll and then that three-week break came, but coming back this time we were pretty much up where we’d finished before.”

Swinton lost 58-10 against Hunslet last week, but Benson is expecting a real battle with Paul Kidd’s side.

He said: “No team seems to be struggling when they play us, they all seem to lift themselves, especially Swinton and Rochdale with the local rivalries.

“I’m expecting good things from them, but I’m expecting the same from my own team.”

Swinton could give a debut to playmaker Craig Harvey, who has joined the Lions on loan from Warrington for the rest of the season.
