Payten in doubt for Dragons showdown

Wests Tigers hopes of toppling St George in Saturday’s Grand Final qualifier have received a blow with the news that prop Todd Payten is in “extreme doubt” for the clash.

Payten suffered an injury to his right ankle during a Tigers training session yesterday and is unlikely to be available to play the Dragons.

Payten was taken from the field and is currently undergoing scans to determine the full extent of the injury.

The results of the scans will be made available tommorrow.

Payten had been named in the starting line up to face the Dragons and, if ruled our, could be replaced by promising youngster Andrew Fifita.
