Back-rower Paul Brearley has signed a one-year contract with Batley following a successful trial period.

The 6’7” back-rower linked up with the Bulldogs as a trialist and has played in every one of Batley’s pre-season games so far.

A former Rochdale Mayfield amateur player, Brearley has impressed coach Matt Diskin enough to earn a contract with the Championship club.

On signing Brearley, Diskin said: “Paul has been a revelation to the group, both in training and on the field.

“His performances have been very good, and we’re delighted to have him with us.”

On joining the Bulldogs, Brearley commented: “I’m really happy to be here, the club has a great set of lads with a lot of quality.

“I’m learning a lot and hope to be able to get as many games as I can under my belt.”
