Returning hero Danny Orr was influential in orchestrating much of the attacking play as the Tigers overcame a resilient York City Knights at the PROBIZ Coliseum on Sunday.

Orr also looks to have formed a lively half back partnership with Rangi Chase with the duo having played together for over 40 minutes. They linked up to cause damage to the City Knights defence on a number of occasions.

The clash was the opening match of 2011 and the first action of the pre season schedule as Terry Matterson’s squad prepare for the start of the Engage Super League campaign.

Matterson had named a strong starting thirteen, with Richard Mathers, Jacob Emmitt and Nick Youngquest all having made their debut appearances for Castleford.

The highlight of the game was 17 year-old hooker Daryl Clark‘s scorching 50-metre try on 56 minutes which delighted the 1,716 crowd who braved the cold temperatures to support their team.

A feature of the game was the contribution made by the wealth of young players emerging at the club. All of the second half tries were scored by home-grown players, all aged 19 or under.
