Olympic hopefuls to conduct Challenge Cup draw

Rugby League will get a taste of the Olympics when the draw for the fifth round of the Challenge Cup takes place on Monday.

Race-walker and Commonwealth Gold medallist Johanna Jackson, and Louis Speight, a wheelchair sprinter and World Number 2 at 100m-800m will pull out the sides for the last 16 of the competition at Broadcasting Place on Leeds Metropolitan University’s campus.

Jackson and Speight are currently students at the university and train at the Carnegie facilities in Leeds.

RFL Chief Operating Officer Ralf Rimmer said: “We are delighted that two Olympians of the calibre of Johanna and Louis have accepted our invitation to conduct the draw.

“The Challenge Cup final at Wembley on August 25 takes place between the Olympics and Paralympics and will be one of the highlights of a memorable sporting year for the UK.”

The draw will take place on Monday, April 16 at 15:00.
