Oldham have announced the signing of prop Martyn Reilly on a one-year deal.

He becomes Matt Diskin’s third signing ahead of the 2021 season, alongside Luke Nelmes and Tommy Brierley.

Reilly, 24, made five appearances and scored one try in the postponed 2020 season for Dewsbury.

He said: “I’m well over the injury now, having played the second half of 2019, followed by a full pre-season for this year and then playing games at the start of this year.

“Dewsbury wanted to re-sign me for 2021 and I also had a few other offers on the table, but I was most impressed with what Matt (Diskin) and Chris (Hamilton) had to say about the Oldham club and about their plans going forward.

“Also, Matt mapped out a specific role for me at Oldham and it suited me just fine and fell in line with my own thoughts about the game and how I play.

“Having said all that, there are a lot of very good people at Dewsbury. It’s a great club. I really enjoyed my time there. To leave was a desperately tough decision to make, but now I’ve made it I’m really looking forward to starting a new chapter at Oldham.

“I think we’ll go well next year.”
