Salford Red Devils full-back Morgan Escare has joined Wakefield on an initial two-week loan.

Escare returns to Trinity for his second stint, having joined them on loan in 2019 from Wigan.

The France international is yet to make an appearance for Salford in the 2022 season. He has so far featured in the club’s reserves side.

He boosts Willie Poching’s side who are missing Max Jowitt and Lee Gaskell.

Escare could make his debut against Toulouse Olympique on Friday evening.

Poching on Morgan Escare signing

Head coach Poching said: “We’re going through a shortage of stocks in our full-back position so we had a look around. To be able to get someone of Morgan’s experience, position and standing in the game, will be more than helpful for us going ahead.

“I’m really grateful and thankful to Salford for allowing us to have Morgan for the next few weeks to begin with.

“Morgan is excited to be playing Super League again. We’re excited to have him run out for us on Friday.”

Wakefield will be without captain Jacob Miller for Friday’s match against Toulouse. The Australian half-back failed a HIA in their loss at Headingley.

Winger Tom Lineham is set to face a couple of weeks on the sidelines after suffering an injury in their 20-4 defeat at champions St Helens.

The 29-year-old left the action early in the club’s defeat at St Helens.
