Wakefield have moved for Batley scrum-half Gareth Moore, who joins the Wildcats on a two-year deal.

Moore, 21, played a pivotal role in the Bulldogs’ Northern Rail Cup success last season and has been named as Championship “Young Player of the Year”.

He said: “I’m really excited about my new opportunity here at Wakefield. I’m looking forward to working full time and proving myself at Super League level.

“I can’t wait to meet everyone and get on the pitch with the team.”

Moore started his career at Leeds and had loan spells at Halifax and York before joining the Bulldogs on a permanent basis.

Wildcats Chief Executive James Elston said: “We’re delighted to welcome Gareth on board. He will add creativity and strength in depth to our current squad. He is an exciting young prospect and I look forward to seeing him in action for Wakefield.”
