New Castleford winger Joel Monaghan is hoping his experience can help fire the Tigers to win trophies in 2016.

Monaghan has joined Cas after half a decade at Warrington, and he is relishing the change of working environment.

“Cas are a quality team right across the park, they’ve got some skills and some big experienced forwards,” he told the Pontefract and Castleford Express.

“It’s a tough place to come and play here and I’m looking forward to being on the other side of the sheds.

“Hopefully I can fit right in, be part of the team, part of the town and get to know the history and get to know the boys.

“I think I can add a bit of experience. I’ve been around a while now and I had a bit of a leadership role in the last few years at Warrington, capped off by being named captain this year. I hope I can bring some of that experience here.”

Monagahan feels that Cas have many of ingredients of success in place already.

“They’ve been competing for trophies and top fours in the last few years consistently,” he added.

“They’ve had a bit of a turnover of players and still been consistent so it says something about the tightness of the group and hopefully I’ll add something to the team.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge and I can’t wait.”
