Minikin sits out again

Castleford three-quarter Greg Minikin will once again miss out when the Tigers take on Huddersfield on Friday night.

Minikin, 22, is second in the Super League try scoring charts with nine, but sat out the win over Catalans last weekend through injury.

Head Coach Daryl Powell told the club’s official website: “Greg Minikin is still a little bit sore so we won’t be risking him on Friday night and I thought Joel Monaghan did a pretty good job for us on Sunday and he’ll stay in there again.

“We have got a few bumps and bruises and we are on a shorter turnaround too. Oliver Holmes is pretty close to coming back and I’ll make a judgement call on him later in the week.”

Castleford face a Giants side without a win in four matches.

Powell added: “Huddersfield have got a lot of injuries, which is not helpful, with teams changing a fair bit it doesn’t help with consistency. The draw was a great result for them at Wigan.

“For me it’s about us and getting our game right, obviously you are mindful of the threats of the opposition and what they are going to throw at you, so we won’t be taking anything for granted and we need to start well and really get after Huddersfield.”

Meanwhile, Huddersfield are without the suspended Danny Brough and Aaron Murphy, with Sam Wood and Gene Ormsby coming in to Rick Stone’s 19-man squad.

Castleford 19-man squad: Chase, Cook, Eden, Gale, Hardaker, Holmes, Lynch, Massey, McShane, McMeeken, Millington, Milner, Monaghan, Moors, Roberts, Sene-Lefao, Shenton, Springer, Webster.

Huddersfield 19-man squad: McGillvary, Cudjoe, Gaskell, Brierley, Rapira, Hinchcliffe, Wakeman, Ferguson, Leeming, Ikahihifo, Roberts, Ta’ai, Clough, Smith, Ormsby, Dickinson, Wood, McIntosh, Mellor.
